1. Facebook Inc will start using postcards sent by U.S. mail later this year to verify the identities and location of people who want to purchase U.S. election-related advertising on its site.

2. Jivi Mobiles on Saturday announced a partnership with Reliance Jio to offer 4G VoLTE smartphones in India at a starting (effective) price of Rs 699.

3. National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) today said it has allowed WhatsApp to beta test its payments service with limited user base of one million and low transaction limit.

4. Israeli police made arrests on Sunday that included senior executives from Bezeq, the country’s largest telecom group, after the markets watchdog uncovered new information during its investigation into the company.

5. Telecom subscriber base in India reached 1.19 billion at the end of December 2017 with Reliance Jio adding over 8 million new customers alone during the month.

6. Google’s GIF-making Android application, Motion Stills, had added a new Augmented Reality mode. The new mode allows users to project virtual item on any static or moving horizontal surface and create a video or GIF with an AR content interacting with the real world.

7. About $2 million was stolen from City Union Bank accounts last week after a cyberattack compromised the SWIFT messaging system with payment instructions being sent to other banks in multiple jurisdictions. The bank detected the transactions while reconciling accounts and about half the money has been retrieved.

8. Foxconn, the world’s largest contract manufacturer, has said that it will keep its commitment of investing $5 billion in Maharashtra, as outlined in a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed in 2015. The company executives spoke to officials in the Maharashtra government including industries minister Subhash Desai on Friday morning and reiterated their intention to invest in the state, and to ensure creation of 50,000 jobs by 2020, as per the terms of the MoU.

9. For the second time in recent days, SpaceX has delayed the launch of a rocket carrying prototype satellites for its planned broadband internet service. The Falcon 9 is now set to blast off Wednesday, just a few weeks after SpaceX launched its huge Falcon Heavy rocket for the first time.

10. Careem, a Middle East competitor to Uber Technologies, said on Sunday it had acquired RoundMenu and would start trialing food delivery services through the restaurant listing and reservation online platform this month.

15. Song-identification app Shazam sees its first update since being bought by Apple for $400 million at the end of 2017. Now, when users Shazam a song, only key information is displayed on the results page, such as the artist name, track name and a picture of the artist. The app's new menu offers direct access to song lyrics -- now with synced lyrics, for real-time singalongs -- as well as videos, updates and more.

16. With a 9% market share, China-based Transsion Holdings' Itel Mobile registered a 217 per cent growth in India in 2016-2017. Itel Mobile entered the Indian market in April 2016.

17. The Payments Council of India, a lobby group for mobile wallet companies, has asked the Reserve Bank of India to withdraw full know-your-customer requirements for them, claiming they would otherwise lose customers.

18. The use of artificial intelligence (AI) in the West is several steps ahead of markets like India, with brands like Amazon taking it to a whole new level by introducing Amazon Go. The store works on the mechanism of a customer scanning a code on the Amazon Go app to enter the store and can pick items off the shelves using AI algorithms.

19. HTT has announced an agreement with an Ohio agency to launch a study on creating its first interstate hyperloop project in the U.S., connecting Chicago and Cleveland. The agreement with the Northern Ohio Area Coordinating Committee puts in motion a regional feasibility study, to be carried out in conjunction with the Illinois Department of Transportation.

20. German transport authorities will next week recall thousands more Daimler and Volkswagen vehicles, Der Spiegel magazine reported today, as the massive emissions cheating scandal that has engulfed the sector for more than two years shows no sign of going away.

22. Reliance Jio is back with another offer. The company has announced cashbacks up to Rs 2200 on purchase of new smartphones from as many as 22 companies under its 'Jio Football Offer'. Under the offer, buyers can get Rs 2,200 cash back on the recharges made on smartphones across select brands.

23. According to a circular by the railway board, booking of special trains, coaches, saloons on full tariff rate (FTR) shall now be done through a "single window booking system" of the Indian Railway Tourism and Catering Corporation (IRCTC).

24. Samsung has dropped first official teasers for its latest flagship smartphones, Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+. The two smartphones are scheduled to be unveiled at the company’s ‘Galaxy UNPACKED’ event on February 25 ahead of Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2018.
